The Swiss Weighing Association monitors the calibration legislation and is committed to an open market and to a liberal regulatory practice for scales and other measuring instruments. It keeps in contact with the Federal Office of Metrology (METAS).
The Swiss Weighing Association (ex- Swiss Scales Manufacturers Association) was founded on 05.06.1964 by the following companies:
Berkel AG, Zürich
Boch AG, Zürich
Busch-Werke AG, Chur
Mettler Instrumente AG, Greifensee.
Nowadays the Association is active in the following areas:
1) Monitoring the weight and measure legislation (directives, norms and standards) and it is committed to an opened market and to a liberal regulatory practice for scales and other measuring instruments.
2) It is a permanent member of the Legal Metrology Group of CECIP and other legal metrology organizations (WELMEC, OIML, etc.).
3) It has a close liaison with the Federal Office of Metrology (METAS).
4) It is the largest network of the leading Swiss scales manufacturers and suppliers.
